Purdue Veterinary Medicine Associate Professor of Veterinary Pathology Stephen Lenz (PU DVM ’81) is now serving as interim director of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL). His appointment was effective February 1 and will continue until a permanent director is named. In announcing the appointment, Dean Willie Reed said, “As interim director, he will be responsible for all aspects of the management of the ADDL and will join the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Senior Leadership Team.”

Dr. Lenz earned his Purdue DVM degree in 1981 and his PhD in 1991. He served as a faculty member at Auburn University before joining the PVM faculty in 2006.

Dr. Lenz succeeds Dr. Stephen Hooser, who has served as ADDL director since 2008. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Hooser for his leadership of the ADDL for the past eight years and for his commitment to serving the needs of our stakeholders,” Dean Reed said. Dr. Hooser, professor of toxicology in the Department of Comparative Pathobiology, will resume his role as head of the ADDL’s Toxicology Section and will concentrate on diagnostic toxicology, research, teaching, and his national leadership roles in the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD).
