Description
Assist with and process drag swab samples for bacteriology lab. Assist with and provide backup support for both bacteriology and parasitology sample prep. Assist as a backup in bacteriology.

This posting represents a temporary part-time position of 1 year, ending approximately October 10, 2017 (benefits do not apply). Hours for this position will be 1 - 5pm daily.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate's or Vocational / Technical degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • General / basic microbiological, immunological and molecular biological laboratory procedures and techniques
    • Sterile techniques
    • Calculation / concentration determination
    • General reagent / media preparation lab maintenance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to identify and determine problems, analyze information and implement solutions
  • Working knowledge in computer / word processing and data entry / analysis software

Description
Entry level position that performs routine or specialized diagnostic procedures/tests for identification of toxins or toxicants in animals and analyzes data in support of diagnostic and research missions of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. Participates in section and laboratory wide team environment to problem-solve, distribute information and work toward continual process improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate's / Technical degree in Science, Veterinary Technical, or related field
  • 6 months of veterinary office / lab experience (may include clinical coursework in pursuit of degree)
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Knowledge of general/basic chemistry and biological laboratory procedures/techniques and calculation/concentration determination
  • General reagent/media preparation and lab maintenance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Flexible to cross-train on other lab positions for support
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (data entry/analysis)
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or Chemistry
  • Experience in bioscience laboratory (biology, chemistry, or biochemistry)
  • Knowledge of analytical instrumentation (UV/VIS, GC/MS, HPLC, microplate readers) and ELISAs

Description
This position will maintain the programs and infrastructure required by ADDL to perform daily operations. These programs are created in visual basic.net and access a SQL Server backend to collect, store, and report data to customers, state, and federal agencies. This position will also maintain, update, and expand the web presence of the laboratory. Work with section heads to define and clarify current and future programming needs.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate's degree.
  • One year of programming experience.
  • Visual Basic.net experience.
  • ASP.net programming, help desk or end user support experience.
  • Basic networking knowledge.
  • Knowledge of TSQL programming, SQL Server Management & Studio.
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to foster change and deliver professional results using effective teamwork, customer service, and problem solving.
  • Ability to lift and carry 10-25 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree.
