ADDL Director Position
Director, Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory

Purdue University invites applications from outstanding leaders in the field of diagnostic medicine for the position of Director of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) which includes the main laboratory on the West Lafayette campus and a branch laboratory located at the Southern Indiana Purdue Agricultural Center (SIPAC). The ADDL is fully accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) and serves as the official diagnostic laboratory for the State of Indiana.

The mission of the ADDL is to provide rapid and accurate diagnostic assistance to referring veterinarians and animal owners in order to detect diseases that threaten animal and human health. Through its extensive engagement mission, the ADDL serves as a member of the USDA National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) and the FDA Food Emergency Response Network (FERN). The ADDL also serves a critical role in supporting the teaching programs in the College of Veterinary Medicine directed toward professional students, veterinary technology students, and graduate students/residents. The successful candidate must have a DVM degree or equivalent veterinary medical degree, at least five years of diagnostic laboratory experience, and have a record of achievement to meet the qualifications for appointment to the Purdue University faculty. An advanced degree in a relevant field of study and/or Board Certification in a laboratory related specialty are desirable. Candidates must have excellent communications skills and experience in fiscal and personnel management, entrepreneurial skills, the ability to lead the laboratory in strategic planning and continuous quality improvement, and a broad knowledge of laboratory quality control and assurance. The successful candidate must be committed to the career development of the laboratory’s faculty and staff, and to promoting an atmosphere of cultural diversity.

The successful candidate will represent the ADDL in interactions with State agencies such as the Indiana Board of Animal Health and the Indiana Department of Agriculture; animal industry groups and agricultural organizations; national agencies such as the National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL), organizations such as the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD), United States Animal Health Association (USAHA), and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
