Avian: General Information
- The Avian Section of the ADDL accepts specimens from
all species of birds including poultry, gamebirds, cage
birds, wild birds and zoo birds.
- The Avian Section performs a number of procedures for
avian submissions but also utilizes the services of other
sections to avoid duplication of procedures whenever possible.
Avian specimens submitted for only microbiological
culture or toxicological
analysis should comply with submission requirements specified
by the appropriate section as shown in this manual.
- The Avian Submission Form must be completed for all
types of avian specimens. All information requested on
the form must be provided in order to select appropriate
laboratory tests and interpret results.
